Hi again. I’m finally able to write here again. Life circumstances have been plenty to deal with in the last several months since my last post. Divorce, search for a job, recovering from depression, adjusting to new meds, trying to get to a place in myself where I could be on remission so I could start getting weened from meds. Whew! Just enumerating that was tiring.

Here’s what I’ve been working on of late.

I haven’t figured out how to upload video here so I’d be honored if you click the link and check it out. Here’s some photos…

Despite all that’s happening to me…Happiness!

I’ve been busy getting my new life way out here in Sacramento, California set up. Its been a busy several weeks going to and from government agencies, filling out forms and securing an appointment with a new doctor, etc.

Before I left WV, this is what I started drawing…

June 30, 2013

It is still a work in progress because a lot of my art and personal  stuff  haven’t arrived yet.  A day without  doing art is a day wasted for me.  Some days are better than others.

Here’s some more I managed to draw in between all the logistic stuff…

Pardon the blurriness of some of them.  I upload scans when I’ve managed to finish them.

If you notice the dates they are days, sometimes weeks apart.  What can I say?  There are days like swimming in molasses.  Everyday I get out of bed, get dressed and come out of my room is nothing short of a personal triumph for me when I’m in the dark phase of BPD (bipolar 2 depression).   This week is good because some of my applications have gone through.  Hence, energy to write a post tonight.

Hopefully, my stuff will arrive soon which means more art making.  Yay!  Reading the following books helped motivate me out of my rut…

  • Paulo Coehlo’s The Alchemist
  • Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat Pray Love, Committed

Thanks for all those who asked after me and dropped me a line or chatted with me on FB and email, plus the prayers.  I really appreciate your kindness and support.  It makes me feel less invisible and worthless.

Pardon my radio silence. Maya, my trusty old macbook has been conking out on me for a couple of months now. I haven’t been able to edit and upload my photos without her blacking out. Its frustrating having to do things over and over. I think she needs a bigger internal HD and OS updates.
Radio silence...

I was able to upload these unedited photos of Our Burrow, today, at least…
Its finished...
Its finished...
My cozy kitchen

I’ve been keeping my self busy sewing table linens, slip and pillow covers for the living room and dining room. I used fabric remnants, upholstery fabric samples and curtain cut-offs to make them. Its been fun.

We moved to our 2 BR apartment in May 2010 and I have been little by little decorating and putting it in order. Most of our furniture has been either heirlooms from John’s mom, rescued or thrifted. We pride ourselves in being able to make a cozy home without having to spend so much money on furniture or other stuff. John and I are both thrifting junkies and its been a challenge to avoid buying too much stuff.

More photos soon.

I’ve been meaning to do my own spin on misfit dolls ever since I saw them on flickr and when I came into fabric swatches and more fabrics to add to my stash (via my sis-in-law, Pat. Thanks Patty!) I knew I was destined to do it.

Here’s the first ones I made last week…
Oona & Howie...
There's creatures on my reading chair!

I’m working on more and will post photos as I make them.

I’ve been on a sewing binge these past several weeks. So I’m sewing bags and smocks and clothing. All the stuff I promised myself I’d make, I’m finally hunkering down and making them. I have the fabrics to make them now.

My sister-in-law went fabric crazy shopping. Being the generous soul that she is, she gave me a bunch of them. I’ve spent the last 2 days sorting them out and will probably spend the rest of the weekend finding a way to find storage for them.
Spring cleaning...

I’ve been meaning to make dolls for my nieces and have had this on my mind the last month.

I hate to throw away fabric scraps so I’ve been working on some projects that will make use of my growing collection of fabric scraps.

More photos soon.

I came across this video on FB and had to post it here. I’m so proud to be a Filipino.

On a personal note, its happy mail day today. They arrived this morning…
