I realized I haven’t been posting on this blog. I’ve been busy working on my art blog. So here’s what I’ve been up to these past weeks…

* Wrote a post explaining what my mystery project was… A New Beginning.
*Posted the new masthead and logo for Story doll.

My prince had his birthday on the 2nd Wednesday of the new year…

Well almost two years later I was able to finish one of them…

I stayed up until this morning to finish her. This evening I made her wand and a carpet bag. No respectable and reliable nanny should be without at least a carpet bag as I’m sure Mary Poppins would agree.

I made her for my sister whose at a loss for a new nanny. I hope Mathilda will be able to help her find a new nanny and fill in every now and then.

I have three more dolls to finish. There’s also some huge amount of baking for food gifting this Christmas so this’ll be a busy week. Photos later when I can.

Meanwhile, up at the tree house where my rabbit hole is, more pages and characters have emerged from the story that is continually unfolding when I started on making Luntian.

Here’s the box I made for them. A neighbor gave us this vintage typewriter case and I altered it by adding decoupage, paint, pale pink fleece like material and vintage trimming.

The small round container contains some artifacts that is part of Lun’s story. Will reveal more as the story unfolds.

I’ve named the wee ones as…
Gumamela, poppy flower in Filipino, is the flower fae. Pronounced as goo-muh-meh-luh.
Tago, Filipino word for hide, is the squirrel. Pronounced as, tuh-gho.
Liit, Filipino word for small, is the mouse.

Meanwhile, I’m working on the other characters and one of the major backdrop of the story. The Apoxie clay arrived last week. I’m very excited to try it!

Christmas decoration and bird feeding preps are underway in our burrow. Will upload more photos soon.

It snowed this early this week. We played int he snow until my fingers grew numb. It took all of 15 minutes. LOL!

Pardon the blurry snowoman. My camera seem to prefer the trees over my busty snow person. Hee!

I’ll upload more photos later in the week. I’m still working on her wings which are leaf skeleton imbedded in resin. I broke one of them so I have to make another set. Ice Resin™ takes 3 days to dry so her wings won’t be ready until later in the week.

Initially, it was supposed to fit an existing frame but now that the tree branches have hardened and painted, that frame no longer fits. I’ll have to come up with a more suitable frame anyway.

Now for the rest of the tree foliage. *taking a big breath* I better get started before I realize how much work its going to be.

It took me a while to work on her dress. I wasn’t really sure who she is yet until I worked on her hair. I preferred red hair for her but somehow she seems to want green hair instead.

I’ve made trial heads last year (of which one survived) but this is my first full doll using polyclay. I’m still getting to know the medium and learning its quirks. Its an exciting adventure. Sometimes when I’m having difficulty with it I find myself missing cloth but challenges are merely an opportunity for learning. So forward I go.

I was actually making another doll that I drew a couple of days ago but it seems this is a new one. She just needed to be made. I’m still figuring out who she is. Stay tuned for her completion.
